Infrared Baroque series

This exhibition is inspired by my travels across Italy last year, where I used a specialized infrared video camera to explore the relationship between surface and depth in the paintings and places of the Baroque. Infrared imaging reveals the hidden structures and processes of these old masterworks, much like DNA analysis uncovers the inner workings of a person. Using scientific analysis of paintings (infrared and x-ray) as the way of revealing, amplifying and critiquing past masters techniques and subject matter.
